Becky Troodler

“I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an educator. I was a mother’s helper, taught swim lessons, worked in camp, and was a group leader on Shabbat, and an NCSY advisor.  I always knew I wanted to work with children,  it really brings me a lot of joy,” shares Mrs. Becky Troodler, Netivot’s Head of School. Growing up in a small town in New Jersey, her family became religious as she entered high school. Her first experience as a student in the Jewish day school system was at the Frisch School, where she grew her love of Judaism and made life-long friends. Jewish day school led to working at Ma-Tov day camp (where she met her husband Nachi) , and then to Stern College in NYC.

Touring Yeshivat Noam in 2001 as a prospective parent, Mrs. Troodler (a middle school math teacher at the time) turned to the principal and said, “I need to work here!” But since Yeshivat Noam was just in its infancy and only went up to 1st grade, she took a leap and taught Kindergarten. “It was such a gift because it taught me how to be an incredible parent! So many tools and strategies, truly a rich learning experience. As the school grew, I grew with the school. I taught 3rd, and then 4th grade which gave me the opportunity to build a curriculum. As the school grew,  I had the opportunity to become Assistant Principal: My Co-Assistant Principal and I built the Middle School from one class of 25 boys to over 230 students!”

“Ten years ago, I got a call from a colleague, ‘I’m starting a school in Philadelphia, will you come?!” I did the craziest thing and said yes! I moved my family to Lower Merion and got to be a part of building Kohelet from one kindergarten class to a full K-8 school.” Now Mrs. Troodler and her family (one daughter still lives at home) have started a new adventure; moving to Canada leading Netivot into its 5th decade!!

Mrs. Troodler loves to read, walk on the beach, spend time with her family, and, fun fact: she swam competitively many summers ago! She and her husband Nachi have 5 children: 3 daughters, 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law. They live in Thornhill and are grateful for the warm welcome to the community, “We are so excited for what is to come!”
