The Goldbergs

We caught up with the Goldbergs to ask them a few very important questions:

What neighbourhood do you live in?

We moved from Forest Hill to Thornhill in 2018 and are living in the Bathurst & Steeles area.

What do you do professionally?
Deena is an HR Business Partner for one of Canada’s leading banks, providing HR advice and council to senior executives and leaders (but currently on maternity leave). Jay is a transportation engineer, managing transportation planning projects for the Ministry of Transportation and municipalities across Ontario.
Why did you choose Netivot for your family?
Deena attended Netivot from JK through Grade 8, and was Valedictorian when she graduated from Netivot! Her mom (AKA Coach Rende / Coach Grandma / Morah Liliane), has taught at Netivot for over 30 years! They both have had such great experiences with the Netivot family. Now as
we’re raising our own family, we found that Netivot’s values, education, and focus on Torah & Derech Eretz aligns with how we want to nurture our children.
What do you love about Netivot?
a. We love the teachers and innovative learning that they do around the parsha and holidays.
b. The love of Judaism and Torah that is created in the classrooms.
c. As a new family to Netivot, we continue to be welcomed with open arms.
d. We love the celebrations around new milestones such as, Siddur and Chumash Ceremonies
Favorite family… dinner?
Our favourite dinner is making our own pizza from scratch.
Fun facts about your family?
While Deena was starting her career in banking, Jay was
decommissioning land mines in the IDF. Both Deena’s and Jay’s moms were gym teachers at Netivot. In high school, Jay played hockey with Deena’s dad in a pick-up game run by Jay’s dad.
What’s your family’s favourite Shabbat or Sunday activity?
We love outdoor activities including skating in the winter, baseball, swimming at the lake or pool, and bike riding in the summer.
