The Scharfs
We caught up with the Scharfs to ask them a few very important questions:
What do you do professionally?
We live in Thornhill. Debbie works for the federal government and Jeff is psychotherapist.
Our family moved from Ottawa to Toronto in 2022 because we wanted to provide our children the best possible Jewish education. We chose Netivot for our elementary school-aged children because of its commitment to Torah and Israel, and its pursuit of derech eretz for its students. There is nothing more important to us than giving our children the tools to grow into well rounded and committed orthodox adults. We love that Netivot has so many activities for our children – which are helping them grow socially, teaching them about the importance of mitzvot and helping build their resilience.
What is your family’s favourite tradition?
Spending Pesach in Israel (which we do as much as possible!)
We love sushi and poutine (both of which we have mastered making at home – we are foodies!), action films, and our favourite holiday is Pesach (best celebrated in Israel of course!)
Jeff is from California and Debbie is from Montreal – but we met and got married in Israel. Jeff has become a dedicated Canadian in the last 15 years!
The Scharfs all have different interests – some of us love sports, others playing fun games (both board games and virtual reality), other like lounging around and reading. But what we all have in common is our love of family and Eretz Israel.
